Dear Dota 2 fans,
After carefully reviewing all possibilities for ESL One Los Angeles 2020 powered by Intel together with VALVE, we have come to the difficult conclusion that the tournament will not be taking place at Shrine Auditorium this year.
While we were all very excited to bring the first-ever Dota 2 Major to Los Angeles, this did not work out now or will in the near future. Instead, we decided that we will still continue to bring you, the fans, the best possible Dota 2 action in this difficult time and keep the competition going for the players - but it won’t be in event locations this year.
The show must and will go on-line! ESL One Los Angeles 2020 will be played and broadcasted online with 34 teams in five regional online leagues from March 28 to April 19 and see qualified teams from the major as well as the best teams from the minor and the ESL World Ranking competing for a total $375,000 USD prize money in a round-robin Bo3 format with a Best-of-Five grand final.
It’s the best, and more importantly, the safest decision for players, coaches, team staff, fans, and our event crews while still keeping the core of esports alive. We are happy that our sport can go on even in the most difficult of times and hope to bring you some entertainment and joy during the quarantine.
We are currently working out the final tournament details and the ticket refund method with the box office and will continue to update this page in the next few days.
Stay safe, stay inside and enjoy some Dota,
Your ESL One Team
