ESL One Los Angeles 2020 - Attendee Update #3

ESL One Los Angeles 2020 - Attendee Update #3

Update 3: Thursday, March 03/12/2020

In light of recent travel restrictions and the evolving COVID-19 situation, ESL is postponing the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Dota 2 Major. While we were very excited to bring the first-ever Dota 2 Major to Los Angeles, the safety and well-being of our players, attendees, coaches, partners, and ESL staff must come first.

We are working closely with Valve to determine a new time and location for the Major. We are deeply disappointed but believe this outcome is in the best interest of all of the people who make these incredible events possible.

We’re currently working with the venue and ticketing provider to refund tickets as soon as possible. If you purchased a ticket, you should be receiving email communication in the coming days.

Update 2: Thursday, March 03/05/2020

We are monitoring the daily developments and want to be as transparent with you, the fans, as possible. Please see below for the latest status.

Yesterday (03/04/20) the Los Angeles County Officials declared a health emergency in a press conference. The number of coronavirus cases in the overall county increased to a total of seven, all of them connected to risk regions outside the US and are not considered community outbreak risks at this time. The emergency state unlocks additional funds and capabilities for the Department of Public Health.

There is a continued conversation between the health authorities, the venue operator and us. The current recommendation by the health department is that all major sports events remain open to the public unless there is a wider community outbreak (source).

Aligned with this (as of today 03/05/2020) ESL One Los Angeles 2020 is still planned to be open to the public at Shrine Auditorium on March 20-22. There are additional safety and hygiene measures in place, as mentioned in the previous update.

That being said: The Covid-19 scenario is dynamic, so there might be changes to the event as we monitor the situation constantly and provide you with updates. If the situation worsens, we are going to change the overall status of the event, in order to ensure the health of our fans, players, and staff. We will inform all ticket holders immediately if this becomes reality.

Fans who are coming from further away are recommended to evaluate their travel plans. If you have further questions and concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team via email here.

Update 1: Tuesday, March 03/03/2020

The ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Major will happen as planned on March 20-22 at Shrine Auditorium. We are in close contact with the local authorities, and if there is any reason to suggest that the event is not perfectly safe we will re-evaluate and react to the new situation. As of now, the venue, the authorities, and ESL evaluate the event to be safe to attend.

Due to the recent global health concerns about the coronavirus, there will be an additional focus on health and safety measures on-site. To ensure the well being of our attending fans, there will be further upgrades to the already high hygiene standards of the venue, as well as additional trained medical staff available on-site.

You can find more information in our FAQ. Our support team is happy to assist in case you have any concerns about your visit to ESL One Los Angeles 2020. You can contact us via email here.

As always, the health of players, fans and our crew working on-site is our top priority.
