ESL partners with SAP to provide better viewing experience during pick and ban phase

We’re excited to announce a brand-new cooperation between ESL and SAP to improve the fan experience during the Dota 2 Pick & Ban phase at ESL One Hamburg 2018. Thanks to detailed data analysis, the live broadcast will provide new, innovative indicators for both the fans and commentators to make sense of the pro’s decisions in the draft.

An exact evaluation of each player’s and team’s recent games will help provide valuable insights and statistics which will be shown live during the broadcast to help spectators get into the minds of the pros. Thanks to the In-Memory Technology SAP HANA®, a huge amount of game data will be processed and uploaded to the SAP Cloud Platform before the final, tailor-made insights are shown on stream in form of informative graphics.

“All leagues and tournaments broadcasted by us will receive a large variety of data and statistics, previously barely attainable by spectators”, said Bernhard Mogk, SVP Global Sales & Business Development at ESL. “Together with SAP we’ll be in a position to add this new feature to our tournament in order to further improve the spectator experience. We’re looking forward to our upcoming cooperation and the debut of the new features at ESL One Hamburg.”

“After our successful entry into the esports scene at the start of the year and first developments in player and team analysis, the event partnership with ESL is an important and logical next step”, said Lars Lamadé, responsible for Sponsorships in Europe and Asia at SAP. ”We’re excited to be working on broadcasting innovations together with ESL in order to deliver the best possible viewing experience to all spectators.”
